More hysterectomies are done because of fibroids than for any other
reason. By the age of sixty, more than one third of American women have
given up their wombs to surgeons.
The Twenty-five percent of postmenopausal women with the highest
bone mass are two and a half to four times more likely to be diagnosed
with breast cancer than those with the lowest bone mass.
Some natural lubricants to combat menopausal vaginal dryness: coconut
oil, vitamin E, acidophilus, comfrey ointment, honey, or olive oil.
Six ways to prevent breast cancer:
1. Don't use seed oils (soy, corn, cottonseed, sesame, sunflower, canola).

4. Eat more beans, especially lentils. Avoid soy unless it's fermented.
5. Eat more fruits and vegetables, at least five servings a day.
6. Wear your bra for less than twelve hours a day.
At least one out of every ten women in America is currently diagnosed
with a thyroid disorder.
Women who gain up to one pound a year for ten years during menopause
have less severe hot flashes, denser bones, and better over-all health.
In the minds of many MDs and gynecologists, menopause is a single
event, a definitive end: the last menses. Everything before that last
drop of blood is called 'perimenopause,' and everything after that last
drop is 'postmenopausal.' To this way of thinking, there are no menopausal
women, only peri- and postmenopausal women. This is like defining puberty
as the first drop of blood and nothing more.
During the menopausal years, numb legs and cramped calves and feet
could be caused by:
· Heart problems
· Smoking tobacco
· Restless legs syndrome
Two self-tests to see if your thyroid levels are normal:
1. Paint tincture of iodine on exposed skin. If it disappears within
an hour, you need more iodine (and your thyroid is probably unhappy).
2. For four mornings in a row, take your armpit temperature first thing,
while resting quietly. The average of four readings should be between
97.8 and 98.2.
