What Do We Do With All These Emotions?

It is part of being human to experience emotion.

"Before you can inspire with emotion, you must be swamped with it yourself. Before you can move their tears, your own must flow. To convince them, you must yourself believe." - Winston Churchill

All things in this manifested reality and beyond have purpose and meaning. Even emotions have purpose. If it were not for the emotion of anger, what would motivate us to change? The emotion of fear freezes us in our tracks and makes us unable to pursue unknown higher ground. Even babies and animals feel emotions and it is a natural element of life. Yet so many people wish to not have this natural experience.

"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. He to whom the emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed." – Albert Einstein

Fear has gripped us so many times that we would rather close our hearts away in bubble wrap than to take the chance on feeling anything at all. So many people today think they are happier in the windless doldrums of life’s ruts than they might be with their sails full and billowing, traveling along life’s paths.

But emotions have a reason for being. They are the tool for manifesting what you want from this world. When used correctly with knowledge and practice, emotions become the propellant for abundance, health and peace.

Have you ever seen people in fervent prayer; not just reciting by rote some words they do not pay attention to but rather full of emotion and longing? Do you think that perhaps those prayers have more power than others? Consider the athlete who is seeking excellence in his or her sport. They compete with fervor, with excited anticipation of their victory. Without emotion they would probably not do as well. Picture the concert pianist performing his difficult sonata before a large crowd. He is involved in the music, playing with emotion and fully absorbed in his craft. These people are using emotion to be better, more successful, to manifest their intentions of success, abundance and joy.

But they didn’t just start at the end. The emotions they use have been honed and stretched, explored and controlled to work in their favor. And no one can use emotion to propel their desires if they are not in touch with themselves emotionally.

The Shamans in South America use emotions constantly. They laugh at the drop of a hat. Sometimes you cannot even tell what was so funny; something seen or considered only by themselves. They feel the energies around them both positive and negative and feel those energies emotionally. They go from happy to sad to introspective to outgoing, flowing through the wide range of emotions they feel from both inside and from forces around them. They are highly in tune with the emotional nature of the earth and its peoples. They could not and would not possibly consider shutting themselves off from this huge wellspring of life. And in their learning and growing they also learn to control these emotions and use them as catalysts when performing healing rituals or bringing solutions to problems.

Emotion is a valuable tool. By adding emotions to our intentions we attach a rocket booster to our wishes and hopes. If a healing is needed, intend for that healing with all the determination you have, sure of the successful outcome and pray with zeal. The Bible tells us to “pray without ceasing.” That takes some zeal, doesn’t it! If success is what you seek, think positive thoughts with gusto and fervor. Put your back to the grindstone and push with all your emotional power for that success. Be expectantly jubilant about the outcome. Know it is within your grasp.

"We need not be afraid to touch, to feel, to show emotion. The easiest thing in the world is to be what you are, what you feel. The hardest thing to be is what other people want you to be." – Leo Buscaglia

A Shaman journeys into the Inner Worlds with a particular intent in mind and keeps that intent focused like an arrow. He goes like a hunter into the forest very aware of why he is there, with a keen mind and heightened senses. He calls on his senses to aid him, including his emotions. He walks carefully on guard against any negative energies he may encounter. He is excited to see what he may find. He anticipates a successful outcome of his journey and he walks in love, always.

Love is the strongest emotion in the universe. It begins with loving yourself. We do not seem to love ourselves so much these days. We shut ourselves off from even that love as we hide behind the safety bunker of not feeling anything at all. But when you can love yourself, really know what that means, then you can love others and not be afraid to stand up and show love for yourself, for your family and even for strangers. That is when the power of emotions begins to really be felt. Magic happens when we reach out to others with the powerful emotion of love.

Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality" - Earl Nightingale

Expressing emotions is natural and necessary to health, joy and success. Try as one might, the gold medal can not be attained without emotions. Nurturing positive feelings and expressing them outwardly takes a wish and turns it into a promise. Using positive emotions and feelings as vehicles for intentions will make those intentions manifest in a sure and powerful way.
