Pregnancy is a time of growing, of flowering, of ripening, of abundance. It is a celebration of fertility, of fecundity, of fruitfulness, of womanliness, of femaleness. Pregnancy celebrates creativity. Pregnancy celebrates joy. Pregnancy celebrates love. Pregnancy celebrates Mother Earth’s infinite capacity for creating new life, rebirth and renewal. Pregnancy is an honouring of the miracle of life, of the vast mystery that gives birth to all creatures, all birds, all humans, all plants, all things.

Pregnancy is potentially a sacred heart opening experience, an inner journey of unfolding femininity that can change a woman forever. Pregnancy opens a woman. Pregnancy softens her. Pregnancy teaches a woman to surrender, to yield, to accept. Pregnancy teaches her selflessness and compassion. Pregnancy teaches a woman to nourish, to take care, to give. Pregnancy teaches her to let go. Pregnancy teaches a woman how to be to supportive. And pregnancy teaches her how to receive nurturing and support.

Pregnancy is a time of waiting that reveals the immense beauty contained within the essence of each moment. Waiting is a deeply feminine art that is dear to the feminine heart. This essence of waiting is not fragile, weak or passive. It is potent in its capacity to create the perfect moment for conception, for growing the ripening seed, for birthing the new babe. And within the strength of its unique power this gestation embraces the silence of stillness, the wonder of being and the aliveness of new beginnings.

The pregnant woman awaits the birth of her baby, and while she waits her body grows, her heart opens, her spirit deepens. And each moment that she waits potentially contains the innate joy of being. When this precious time of waiting is fully embraced and consciously lived it becomes a deeply spiritual act of female love.

Pregnancy is a physical and spiritual celebration of the lovemaking that creates this awesome miracle. Pregnancy is the making of love. Pregnancy is a creation of love. The ecstatic spark of conception that radiates from a pregnant woman’s womb deeply permeates her psyche. It fills every cell of her being with the radiant glow of maternal love and the brilliant blossoming of new life.

Her body becomes one with the cosmic lunar cycle that births menstruation, pregnancy and menopause. And she glows because she is in harmony with the glorious bounty of life. It is a magical moment when a woman feels the inexplicable spiritual bond that flows between her heart and the heart of her tiny unborn babe swimming in the protective waters of her womb.

Although it is not every woman’s karma to become a mother, many women say that they never felt like a real woman until they experienced pregnancy and childbirth. For every woman is the physical embodiment of the Earth Mother, of the Great Mother, of the Universal Mother who births all life from within the deep void of her primordial mystery.

Every babe is born through a particular vagina, a particular body, a particular womb. And yet, beyond all physicality it is this Great Earth Mother, the Universal Giver of life, who births each babe from the heart of the deep, from the immortal calling of her womb spirit. And she gives birth from a mysterious place beyond life, beyond death, beyond the physical body, beyond all physical forms.

When a woman celebrates the succulent deliciousness and heart-opening ripeness of her pregnant body she emanates Mother Earth’s all encompassing compassion. the Art of Shakaya Leone When she relishes the juicy fertility, the luscious moistness, the ecstatic swelling of her growing breasts and the delicious stirrings within her expanding belly she embraces her femaleness more fully. When she delights in the psychological, emotional and physical changes that swirl within her psyche throughout these precious months she softens and melts into the sweet tenderness of maternal love. She becomes Madonna of the Earth. Such a woman is not afraid of her body. She is not afraid of love. She is not afraid of her female sexuality. She is not afraid of life.

Contemporary society does not honour the pregnant woman as a Goddess of gloriously sensual fertility. Nor does it honour every woman as the beautiful Goddess of love. Because of the media’s promotion of unnatural thinness as a “perfect” and “ideal” image of femaleness, many women are increasingly fearful of gaining weight during pregnancy. Magazines prey upon their female readers’ gullibility through stories of famous celebrities adopting babies because they do not want to put on weight. And they abound with photographs of fashion icons gaining minimal weight during their pregnancies with the help of their personal trainers.

In a society where the feminine essence is supposedly “liberated” the media exploits natural femaleness through adulating women for losing weight quickly after childbirth. This practice can be dangerous to a mother’s health. Pregnancy is not a sport. Pregnancy is not a fashion parade. Pregnancy is not a “training”. Striving to attain an unnatural thinness at any time in a woman’s life is a denial of female sensuality and a blatant warning that she is experiencing extreme emotional and psychological disturbance and distress.

Magazines now portray the pregnant woman as disturbingly as they portray most women, either as a sex symbol with a “bump” or as a starving waif who is afraid of her femaleness. They communicate much ignorance, no consciousness and no perceptions of her natural beauty, her sensitivity, her purity, her vulnerability, her sensuality, her strength.

And so the world thrives upon its own ignorance, distortions, dishonesty and unconsciousness through denying the sacredness of the maternal woman and through denying the sacredness of all women. Pregnancy is a flowering and an acknowledging of female fertility and female beauty. Pregnancy is an honouring of new life. Pregnancy is not another opportunity for a woman to starve her body into unnatural thinness.

BEING WOMAN - She of the Earth…

This course provides a sacred and nurturing space where woman can learn to surrender more deeply to the natural receptivity of the female psyche. Throughout this series of lessons she will learn to trust the innate flow of her intuitive nature and to listen more intimately to the wellspring of her inner source. And we will explore together how to live more fully as the embodiment of the feminine essence within the structures of a masculine civilisation.

This course is a series of lessons that honour the fluid nature of the female psyche. Woman has forgotten who she is and the world has forgotten who she is. Her female truth has become clouded and polluted like her beloved Mother Earth. She has imbibed so much maleness that she has lost confidence in the sweet mystery of her receptive nature. She has become angry, forceful and self-doubtful because she is not seen, heard or loved as the creative power of the feminine spirit. It is time for her to stop sleeping. It is time for her to awaken from the dream of unreality that diminishes her true power. It is time for her to become who she really is, in the deep, in her mystery, in her sacredness.
